The Problem of Sin and its Solution

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23, ESV)

Paul

When someone lives with a health issue or infirmity for a long period of time it can become second nature and eventually accepted as part of one’s life. Sin is often simply accepted and too often, ignored. Sin is mankind’s greatest problem and is directly responsible for all other problems past, present, and future. Okay, hopefully I have your attention now. Sin is indeed responsible for the condition we live in. Sin has literally changed everything, all of what we experience in this world has been affected (or should I say infected) by sin.

From one end of the discussion, some say there is no God and therefore there is no sin. While others on the opposite side say that nothing can be done about our sin. Which one is true? Does the answer lay somewhere in between?

This brief look into the subject of sin is to guide any person, regardless of beliefs, to examine the subject of sin. I also encourage Christians to read, as it is important to be regularly reminded about the nature of sin.

Sin is a puzzling problem, God could have prevented mankind’s disobedience by programming to love Him and thereby prevented all sin and suffering. If God knew that man would sin, which of course He did know that would happen, why would He go through the trouble of creating the universe and those pesky humans that will end up causing Him to curse everything? We could have been created with the “instinct to love and obey” our Creator, but one could argue that kind of devotion would not be true affection. Before we start this series on sin, I have one question for us to ponder. Did God create mankind with a free will, someone who could disobey, in order to sort out those that truly love Him in return?
