We are Rediscover the Bible Ministries

A Little About Us

As Christians, we are defined as followers of Jesus, and our mission is clear and simply stated in the Gospel of Matthew. At His direction and command, we are to understand and acknowledge that all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him. Further, that we are to go out into the world and share our faith, baptizing in His name and teaching His children to become disciples as we are commanded to be.

18 I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. 19 Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 20 Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age. (Matthew 28:18-20, NLT)

Jesus

How do we do this? As you navigate through this website, you will find Bible study guides, Biblical commentaries, podcasts, tips on reading the Word along with considerations that hopefully engage your mind and spirit in a new way. There’s no mystery or anything hidden in the Bible. His Word is a gift to us that is both straightforward and life changing.

Rediscover the Bible Ministries is a group of brothers and sisters in Christ who have varied backgrounds in faith, upbringing and life experience who have come together united in one purpose: We are to share the Word of God with other believers who want to reignite the fire we all felt when our Lord Jesus Christ touched our lives for the very first time. Some of us grew up in different mainline denominations. Some of us grew up in a non-Christian faith. But through the study of His Word all of us came to understand that being a Christian is more of a relationship than a dogmatic or liturgical tradition. We became followers of the living Christ.

At Rediscover the Bible Ministries we are simply people with a love for our Lord and a willingness to be obedient to Him. Join us on rediscovering the beauty and adventure found in Him and His Word.

Mission

To help Christians grow in the knowledge of the Bible through the development and publishing of easy-to-understand commentaries and offer online teaching. To encourage Christians to reengage themselves in Bible study and to equip them for evangelism (see Ephesians 4:11-16).

What We Believe

It's not an easy task to create an exhaustive list of everything a Christian believer and follower of Jesus Christ believes in. It should be enough to say that we believe in one God in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and that all things were created by Him. And that due to Adam's disobedience all creation is cursed and humanity condemned, and since mankind cannot change that fate, God the Father sent His Son to die for us so that we can live with Him forever. But with so many divisions in Christianity, some false teaching, and varied opinions prevalent today more needs to be stated than just the basic facts. So, be patient when you read this list, and please don't get upset if we missed something (but we would appreciate it if you would let us know what was missing).

We begin with God, its been said that if you don't believe the first four words of the Bible, "In the beginning God..." then you might as well stop reading. But understand the outcome will end poorly for you. God is all powerful, all knowing, and always present. He has always existed and He is eternal. He is the creator of all things and sovereign ruler of all (see Genesis 1:1; 2:1-4; Deuteronomy 6:4; 33:27; Psalm 22:28; 103:19; 147:5; Isaiah 40:28; 45:18; Daniel 5:21; 2 Samuel 22:31; Nehemiah 9:6; Ecclesiastes 12:1-6; Matthew 5:48; 28:18; Mark 12:29-34; John 1:1-3; 1 Corinthians 8:4; Romans 16:26; Colossians 1:16-17; 2:3; Hebrews 1:1-3; 9:14; 2 Peter 3:9; Revelation 1:8; 4:11).

Jesus is Lord of all, being the begotten Son of God and creator, He always existed. He is fully human and fully God (see Luke 24:39; John 1:1-3, 14, 18; 3:16, 8:58; Colossians 1:16; Acts 2:22; 1 Corinthians 15:47; Philippians 2:5–8; Hebrews 1:1–3). He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, and lived a sinless life (see Isaiah 7:14; 53:4–6; Matthew 1:16–23; John 8:29; 8:46; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:21–22). Jesus died on the cross, making atonement for all of man’s sin (see Matthew 1:16–23; Luke 1:30–31; John 19:30; 1 Thessalonians 1:10; Hebrews 9:11–12; 10:12–14; 1 Peter 1:17–19; 1 John 2:2). Jesus Christ rose from the dead, ascended to heaven, and is currently seated at the right hand of God the Father, and will return to earth to judge all people (1 Corinthians 15:3–5; Acts 17:31; Ephesians 1:17–23; 2 Timothy 4:1; Hebrews 7:25).

The Holy Spirit, the third Person of the Godhead, is Lord and Giver of life, who glorifies God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ. He convicts the world of sin (see John 15:26; 16:8–11, 14) and opens hearts to believe in Jesus (see Romans 8; 1 Corinthians 2:6–14; 12:3; Titus 3:3–7). The Holy Spirit dwells in every believer which produces godly fruit (see John 14:16–17; Acts 1:8; 4:31; Romans 8:11; 1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:18–20; Galatians 5:22–23; Ephesians 2:19–22).

The Bible is the Word of God, it is divinely inspired, inerrant, infallible, and authoritative (see Deuteronomy 4:2; 12:32; 2 Timothy 3:16–17; Revelation 22:18–19). The Bible is also the best commentary for the Bible, which is one reason the entire Bible needs to be studied thoroughly (see Proverbs 8:8–9; Matthew 12:3–5; 19:4, 22:31; Mark 7:13; 12:10; 12:26; Luke 6:3; 2 Corinthians 4:2; 2 Timothy 3:16–17). The Bible explains why a Redeemer (Savior) is needed (see 1 Kings 8:46; Isaiah 53:6; Psalm 116:11; Proverbs 16:5; John 3:16–18; 12:32, 48; Romans 3:23; 5:12; 2 Peter 3:9). The great news is that the Bible also contains everything regarding salvation, no other book or instruction needed, as the gospel is clear (for the foundation of the gospel see: Genesis 1:1, 31; 3:15–19; Romans 5:12; 3:23; for the gospel message see: 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Romans 5:1–2; 6:23; 10:9; John 3:14–18; Acts 16:30–31; Ephesians 2:8). The Bible is the Word of God, it does not just contain the Word of God, which also informs us that dark angels, Satan (also known as the devil), worldly influences, and of course hell (eternity away from God) do exist (see Matthew 25:41; Revelation 20:10), it IS the Word of God!

Theology Summary

Theology essentially means the study of God. But what do we have to look at and study that will reveal God to us? First, we have creation, a spectacular display of incredible power and diversity. From it we can see evidence of design and engineering beyond any man-inspired technology. Second, we have some written materials that proclaim to be from God. But how do we know which, if any, are from God? This is where truth comes in, we ask is the text true? Whatever is chosen to be from God must be 100% accurate. It then needs to be true for all things past (history), present (still relevant today), and future (any prophecy fulfilled precisely). The only book that is true and meets that criteria is the Bible

While Christian theology has creation (see Romans 1:18-20) and the Bible to support its beliefs, the question of how to interpret the Bible becomes the next hurdle to jump over. The process of interpretation begins with a close examination of the written materials. It would be very difficult to summarize how we examine Scripture here on this page. So, a separate page has been developed to provide more information for you. However, understand that many books (some of them huge and multi-volume) have been written on this subject, our review will likely pale in comparison. Click here see our page on Christian theology.

Why another website?

Some of you might be asking why another Christian website is needed, and what makes this site any different. It is the primary goal in this ministry to produce easy to read and easy to follow Christian commentaries and other materials. Most commentaries are written for scholars and often require a dictionary to follow the author. Even though we will review etymology (the study of the origin of words, which is much needed when studying something written in a different language like the Bible) and help the reader understand difficult passages through detailed explanations, the text remains understandable and clear (we hope).

Plus, since much of the Bible interacts and pertains to other parts of the Bible, most of our writings include what we call 'Considerations'. These are references to other parts of the Bible with explanation of how and why they relate, as well as other "thought provoking" relationships. Materials on this site can be read like a commentary (from beginning to end, like a typical Bible study) or as a 'handbook' to help answer questions. If you find you like our materials, please consider a donation (we are a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization).
